Matt, do you ever conceive an ending story for popular comics characters (like Hawkguy)? Or even popular fiction characters? Like, what was Rockford up to when he decided to retire? As a life long comic fan, I've accepted that I'm perpetually in the second act of a story with a lot of the big two characters. That said, I think an ending of some kind lends extra weight to those characters and doesn't invalidate their present stories.

i came up with one for HAWKEYE that i wanted to do for AGE OF ULTRON but came up with it too late, but mostly, no. i figure out my ending, as it were, but i always understand someone else gets the baton next. but i try to write endings where, if someone didn’t ever read another story with that character they’d not feel like they got Ray Luca’d.

saw your answer to that question about a hawkeye tv show, but i think that won't happen because it would remind people too much of arrow. but do you think there's a chance that clint will become a major character in the new serie S.H.I.E.L.D. ?

Hey Matt, have you ever watched Leverage? If you did, what did you think of it?

yes. i liked it. i admired how the writing staff steeped everything in the real world; i loved to learn about all the exciting and fun ways we’re getting fucked over by rich people every day.

What was it like writing the page in FF #6 with the layout of the entire Baxter Building? Did you do it just to prove that you could?

it was hard to keep it all straight but surely it was harder to draw. it was four pages of manuscript, and the reference. sharp-eyed readers have caught on that FF mirrors and mimics the original Stan & Jack issues; F4 v1.6 was the first time an isometric of the Baxter Building appeared.

I’m buying the page from Quinones, I love it so.

(FOR WHAT IT’S WORTH: the idea of just taking a rocket and turning it upside-down and relabeling it a “Mole Man Deterrent” makes me laugh every time I think about it)

Hey matt! Sorry if this has been asked before but i love all the details in hawkeye, and I was wondering what kind of research you put into your work. Like what kind of things do you look up or if you use any references?

a lot. i love research. it’s reading but you can tell yourself it’s actually writing.

My comic store didn't have "marble season" on FCBD, so what do you think of it. Should I get it or no.

you should always buy everything gilbert hernandez produces.

Since you couldn't do a hawkeye movie, would ya do a hawkeye tv show? I could see that being much more effective.

it would certainly feel more like the book than taking one of the book’s stories and stretching it out to 110 minutes, i think.
