Tacoma Elks Lodge built in 1915

This is probably my favorite building in Tacoma due to it’s creepiness.  But all that could change.  Shortly after I took this photo the building was purchased by McMenamins.  They’ve run into some coding and zoning snags and haven’t been able to make quick progress in their renovation project.  I’m both excited and terrified about what they might do with this building.  Sometimes the McMenamins do a fantastic job with a building (see the Kennedy School in Portland) and sometimes they really miss the mark (see the Spar in Olympia).
